The Rainstorm

The struggling artist spent a sleepless night trying to create a masterpiece.  Finally, he fell on his knees and asked, “Lord, how can I create beauty?”  Suddenly a clap of thunder shook the earth and the rain poured down.  The Lord whispered, “This is how I create.”

To a Very Special Mom

guest blogger

by Marilyn D. Lee

Ever since D and I have been married,

in my heart a message for you I’ve carried.

Now that Mother’s Day is coming around

I’ve decided it’s time to put some of it down.

I haven’t known you for very long as time goes,

but you are a good mother as everyone and Heaven knows.

How do I know these things are true?

Three wonderful children were guided by you.

D is the one that I’m thinking about –

he is the greatest man without a doubt.

You’ve taught him very well the things he should do.

As a husband and a father he is the very best.

His love, kindness and manliness have stood the test.

All these qualities and many others that he has

are all because of you, a very special lass.

I have always told him he is a very gentle man.

That’s because his mother is a very gentle woman.

At this time I’d like to say something long overdue

for raising such a special son I say thank you.

Here! Physically Anyway

To be honest,

I had a rough night.

A bad headache,

I just didn’t feel right.

Now it’s morning,

and I have to go and do.

Trying my best,

just to muddle through.

What is focus?

It doesn’t exist for me.

I keep drifting,

from where I oughta be.

Don’t ask questions,

I can’t think of such.

Don’t annoy me,

and it won’t take much.

Ms. Cranky Pants

will probably show her head.

I wish I could

take a break and nap instead.

All I ask is,

help me through the day.

If I were you,

it’s best if you stay out of my way.

Because of Him

You laid down your head,

you closed your eyes.

Leaving when there’s more to be said,

without saying goodbye.

Why has this happened,

why has this happened to me?

When I seem to lose all hope, I hear a voice saying:

Don’t worry. I’ll be with you when I can, just go on,

please stay strong.

Do not worry, you may not see me right now

but I know somehow,

I will hold you, I will see you, I will feel you again.

But don’t worry, I’ll never really leave you,

because of Him.

I’ve given my greatest sacrifice and put my heart to the test.

But I realize, I’m not the only one to go through this.

I think of my Brother and what he went through –

because of Him I can hope, because of Him, I can be comforted,

because of Him,  I hear a voice saying:

Don’t worry, I’m with you always, just go on,

please stay strong.

Do not worry, you may not see me right now,

but I know somehow,

I will hold you, I will see you, I will feel you again.

But don’t you worry, I’ll never really leave you

because of Him.

A Timeless Writers Heart

guest blogger

by Suzy Hazelwood

The cover of a book

can display more fiction

than the words on the actual page

And beginnings

and endings

can beg the reader to buy

But the books

that I never fall out of love with

their covers often bland

are to be found

or acquired

by chance of being there

just a lucky day

My mind quivers

with eager anticipation

at what my eyes will see

between the musty ancient pages

as my fingers stroke the aged and tatty skin

of a book from long ago

Authors I’ve not heard of

but were men of great fame

in their literary day

Publications

declared to be written ‘By A Lady’

a nameless novelist

a woman

quietly competing

in a man’s world of books

All their words folded into paper

a hundred years or more

the print

waiting

to be read

or spoken

just one more time

And now I

this woman of ebook future

and computer literate age

will absorb

the declaration

the knowledge

and the beauty

of a timeless writers heart
