I remember reading the New Testament years ago.  It was perhaps my first time through it or the first time I paid attention to Matthew 24 when I had the thought – this is real.  We are not preparing for the Lord’s return figuratively or so far in the distant it is abstract.  No, this is a real event that is approaching and I need to be ready.

Verse 24 is a particular warning that there will come a time when “insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”  Now, if the very elect can be deceived that gives great pause to someone a bit below their level.  How then, can one such as I be not deceived?  Here are a few of my personal thoughts on the matter.

The point is, this is an anticipated and real event that is approaching.  We have been warned so that we can prepare.
