Food is necessary for our survival. We consume it and it becomes energy for our bodies. The right kind of food sustains us and helps us grow. Without nutritious food our bodies become weak and sick.
To help us understand how important Christ is He is called the Bread of Life. In other words, the Staple of Life. Just as food is needed for our physical growth and well being Jesus is needed for our spiritual growth. Without the Atonement of Christ in our lives – making it one with us – our spiritual selves become weak and sick. In order to thrive spiritually, we need to internalize the Atonement of Christ.
How do we do that? The answer is slightly different for every person but the basic foundation always applies.
