Another insight of the scripture that has had a profound impact on my life. The request by the Savior to the rich young ruler helped me decide to serve a mission. What was I willing to give? Was I willing to sacrifice anything? So I went.
But to realize we are asked to do hard things because we are loved is new level of this story. The chicken breaking out of the egg will fail if some do-gooder tries to help it. It is the experience of that first hardship that will make it strong. A baby will take longer to learn how to walk if we try to prevent it from ever falling. Our sacrifices will demonstrate our love for God and will allow Him to show His love for us.
