General Conference thoughts: Becoming a Disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ

by Elder Robert D. Hales

“Now more than ever, we cannot be a ‘part-time disciple’!”  There are no more fence sitters we are either all in or out.

Too absolute for you?  Just in my limited experience I can see that this isn’t some strict command but a natural law.  It always has been because about 2,000 years ago Jesus said, “No man can serve two masters” (Mat 6:24).

Being a disciple is not about a checklist but about the focus of the heart.  It’s not the disciples who condemn and judge the world.  A disciple’s job is to share the love of God by sharing His attributes with the world.  Forgiveness, love, peace, and so many more qualities are the marks of a true disciple.
