We are all probably familiar with the 10 Commandments. Whether we believe that they are from God, guidelines to a better life, or a nuisance is up to each of us. As I thought about the commandments God has given us I realized none of us are on the same path. There are at least four different levels of obedience. Let’s use the example of taking cookies out of a cookie jar to demonstrate each level.

General Conference thoughts: Small and Simple Things
by President Dallin H. Oaks
Everything we need to know we learned in primary. The primary or standard answers are always the answer because they truly are the answer. Scripture study. Prayer. Church. Temple. These are the things we need to make time for because these small acts done daily, weekly for church attendance, or as often as possible for temple attendance is what will determine our grasp on the iron rod and the pathway to the Tree of Life. General Conference thoughts: Whatsoever He Saith unto You, Do It
by Elder L. Whitney Clayton
I like being able to see scripture stories and the people in them in a different light. There is no doubt Mary, wife of Joseph, was a good person. She is a person to emulate. But to have the extra insight helps to recognize her special talents. Continue reading
Ponder the Path of Thy Feet
by Thomas S. Monson
Last weekend I had the opportunity to listen to a true prophet of God speak. Such a wonderful message that I want to share.
The Key
The prophet said,
the great test
we learn in life
is to obey
that will bring us rest.
Who am I to argue?
I do agree
obedience
is the test
and love is the key.

Abraham and Isaac
Genesis 22
Abraham said to Isaac,
“Son, come with me.
It is time to sacrifice
come learn and see.”
Isaac walked with Abraham,
and saw his father shed a tear.
Finally he asked softly ,
“Why did we come here?”
Abraham taught Isaac,
“Son, the Lord is leading me
we made a covenant
and I am not sure how it will be.
Right now, I am lost
I cannot see the end
but I trust the Lord
because he hears me again and again.
This has caused sleepless nights
filled with prayer and fret.
All I know is it will work out
but I do not know how, quite yet.
I love you son,
always know I love you
this thing I have been asked
is the hardest I will ever do.
I do not know how but I believe
a miracle is in store
because the Lord keeps his promises
forevermore, forevermore.
Do you trust me son?
Trust in me like I trust the Lord
there are blessings
that are in store.”
Isaac replied to Abraham,
“I am not sure I can see
but I trust in you
and I know this must be.”
Abraham offered Isaac,
but an angel stopped his hand.
The lesson was taught
so all could understand.
The lesson of Abraham and Isaac:
Trust in the covenants you make
because the Lord always does, too.
And know there is one who took your place
and made the sacrifice for you.
