March 2020 I was supposed to go to Europe. You know, about a week after everything started shutting down. So, the trip was postponed until October. And then postponed again until October 2021 (fingers crossed). But that left me with two weeks of unused vacation time in 2020 that I needed to use or lose. What to do? For one week, my niece invited me to visit her and her family. For the second week, I spent the first week in December at home. A week long staycation, what could go wrong?

The lesson of the sunflower
I recently read a cute little post about how sunflowers use each other for support on cloudy days. According to the post, when the sun isn’t out the flowers nod to each other for support. Of course, it was supposed to be a lesson about us needing each other. I thought it was cool but two seconds of checking on it led me to believe it is not true. Sunflowers do not tilt toward each other on cloudy days. What they do instead is still a lesson to us, just not the intended lesson the post suggested.

Peace in Christ
This Easter weekend, while the world is seemingly descending in turmoil I want to share the hopeful message that peace is still available. Not in an abstract but in a very real sense. Peace is still offered and it comes through the source of peace. The message of the Easter season is available through the King of Peace. The tomb was empty. He lives! Jesus Christ lives! And because He lives you can have peace today.

Season of light
I am not a winter person. There is nothing I really enjoy about the season. From the bitter coldness to the short days I am not a fan of any of it. I am much more a summer person. From the heat to the longer days I am pretty much a fan. Here is something I realized this past winter though. Winter is actually the season of light while summer actually is the season of darkness.
