General Conference thoughts: Deceive Me Not

I have a personal theory. You can place someone in a room with a million people and each of those million people tell that one person a good quality about him or her that one person may feel pretty good about themselves for a short time but will give in to self-doubt and a negative self-image within a few days. In other words, that person will not see the positivity in herself that others do. Confidence must come within.

That’s why my advice to anyone who is struggling is to kneel and say a vocal prayer. In that prayer ask to see yourself as Heavenly Father sees you. Do not stop with one prayer but make the heart felt request in 30 prayers. Not to dip into vain repetition but focus on the words and the request.

After each prayer, write a little note of gratitude to someone. First, to yourself for the awesome job you do at being you. Then to others. Show gratitude throughout the month. At the end of the thirty days, say a gratitude only prayer.

This process can be repeated as often as needed.

The point of all this is if you see yourself as you are you will be able to rise above the temptations that may drag you on a downward spiral. Don’t be deceived – you are a child of God and you have a work to do. So get busy doing.
