The switch has come. We lost a precious weekend hour (so not cool). It takes at least a good solid week to adapt to the time change. And to quit responding, “…but it’s really [insert a time one hour earlier than the clock time]” when asked the time.
Here are some things I am blaming on the spring forward:
I was late – er to work on Monday. I mean I entered that zone when phone calls were about to be made to see if I was dead. Not dead yet. Just running really, really behind.
My computer refused my Jedi-mind tricks. I couldn’t just stare at the screen but actually had to type things in the keyboard and click the mouse to get anything done. The tortoise would have beat me.
I have a headache.
My Mac and Cheese lunch exploded in the microwave at work and made a big mess. Technically, not really the time change’s fault but my ability to cope was affected. I’m not gonna lie, I stared at the mess for a second and considered options (as if there was another option to cleaning up the mess?)
While at the gas station, I pulled out my employee badge instead of my credit card. Yeah, let’s see how far that gets me.
My co-worker told me I was “feisty.” She also said, “Yeah, this time change messed me up. I was late to everything yesterday.” Yesterday? I am going to be running late for at least a week. Booyah to you for being able to contain it within day 1. That response might be why she called me feisty.
I am cranky-ier than normal. See above.
Now for the plus side.
It didn’t look like midnight when I went to my meetings in the evening.
I’ll say it again and not for the last time, the day after the useless, pointless, ridiculous, nobody-knows-why-we-still-do-it, I-think-the-government-just-likes-to-mess-with-us spring forward time change should be a holiday. Give us one day to adjust please.
Or deal with Ms. Cranky Pants.
Trust me on this, the better option is to make the silly time change go away.
You do sound like you’re having a rough time Cori! 😦 Your meal exploding in the microwave is a bit alarming – why do you think it did that?
I managed to get in a taxi last week and leave my handbag on the pavement. It was dark and by bag is black and very small. I had so many bags with me and a small suitcase, I didn’t see it. Luckily my keys and purse were in a pocket in my suitcase, but because my valuables were with me, I didn’t even notice when I got home that night that it was missing. I got a phone call message left by the police at 3am (receipt inside bag with my name and phone number – handy!) to let me know some lovely person had handed in my bag to the police station. You can imagine how shocked I was! 😯
I was convinced they had the wrong person, and then I discovered my handbag wasn’t in the house!! When I went to collect it, they told me it was found on the front bonnet of a police car parked outside the station. I had to smile at that, and take a guess that whoever found it must have been worried they might be blamed for any missing valuables. No purse and no keys, probably made it look like I’d been robbed. I don’t blame them really, nice of them to hand it in ( sort of hand it in). That was a very weird experience – too much on my mind I think. I can’t blame it on time change – we haven’t got to that yet! 😀
What a great story of an honest person! Glad to know that still happens in this world.
It’s just that first week after the time change that’s always rough. Once I get past the first weekend I’m ok. I think. I’m still late to work so I should probably fix that 😄
