General Conference thoughts: Love One Another as He Has Loved Us

by Elder Jose L. Alonso

Love is misunderstood.  Probably a lot of times it is mistaken for something else.  Here are two things it looks like: service and forgiveness. The best way to say, “I love you” is through our actions.  A piece of advice my brother gave me before I left on my mission is “if you’re having trouble loving your companion serve her.”

Forgiveness is demonstrating the pure love of Christ.  It isn’t easy and in order to do it we may have to dip into the power of the Atonement of Christ – the ultimate act of love.  Elder Alonso shares a powerful example of forgiveness in his talk.  But do we think to use Christ’s Atonement to help us forgive the wounds to our pride?  I know I don’t always.
