Why I like Memorial Day
It’s a ritual of the living.
We set aside a time to remember.
First, those who have fallen
defending freedom.
Then the others.
To my married friends…
Dear friend,
I know when we get together
there is no holding back
we can talk forever.

“I’ve got to go now.
There are lessons you
will learn
and must learn
when I’m gone.
It’s time for you to grow.

Two Feet on the Ground
My grandma always said,
“I’ve got two feet on the ground,
“I can do anything anyone can do.”
She barely stood five feet
though she claimed five-two.
Promised Land
One day they woke up
hanging by a thread.
They married so young
now wondered what they did.
Hold On
There’s an ebb and flow,
a give and take.
Sometimes your heart is full,
sometimes it breaks
and so you hold on.
