What I want this year

Let me start off by saying, gifts – receiving and giving is my love language. A sincere gift is how I express love and receiving a thoughtful gift is how I feel loved. I love opening presents. I love watching others open presents. So, that should make what I’m about to share even more powerful. I don’t want anything this year for Christmas.

Love means that yes, we are connected

There is a common notion these days that we are independent creatures. “Live your life” as you want to or need to. Yes, I agree this is quite compelling. Yes, I agree that no one should live their life based on another person’s ideals or worse, wants. You need to live your life to the best of your ability and according to the dictates of your own conscience. But, you have to realize there is a caveat to that. A life filled with love means you are not truly as independent as you think. Your actions will affect others.

When a Two Year Old Made My Day

Connection:  1) the joining together of two or more people, things, or parts.  2) something that links two or more things (Encarta).

I like to feel connected.  Apparently.  I used to have this – for lack of a better word – game I played with my mom.  I never really knew any of my grandparents so I’d have her tell me stories about them.  Mainly my grandmas.  I wanted to know who I looked like, who I acted like, what traits I inherited, and blah blah blah.

The Connection

People in a small town are interwoven as if connected by a giant spider web.  Be careful who you talk about, there’s a chance the subject of your story is related to the listener!

It was a small group of people who gathered around the opening in the earth.  If the deceased man had friends while living, none were compelled to brave the biting cold weather to bid him farewell.  Winter in Wyoming reaches inside a person and clenches the bones.  So, only a few family members came to say goodbye.  And only those that felt obligated to come.
