The sun is shining up above
it’s the perfect day to declare their love.
Dressed all in white
they are starting this journey right.
The sun is shining up above
it’s the perfect day to declare their love.
Dressed all in white
they are starting this journey right.
He was working in his shop that afternoon,
when she stopped by to tell him the news.
He gave her his best grin,
and asked her, “When?”
She looked at her feet then into his eyes
and told him, “Sometime in July.”
There is a man I know,
a common man he seems.
But all he does it shows
he has always loved me.
It starts with a man and woman
making promises, dressed in white,
holding hands, exchanging rings.
The day is good, the day is right.
Baby, there’s no maybe
when I say I love you.
And maybe, baby,
if you love me, too –
I heard the news just the other day,
my good friend from junior high days,
had to leave his family,
he had to go away.
A boy met a girl
that’s how it did begin.
One smile from her,
and his heart was in.
How did I get here?
How did I get in this mess?
Breathing musty air
and surrounded by darkness.
The towel feels soft in my hands
And all I have to do
want to do
could do
is throw it in
toss it in
give in.
But I’ve been a quitter
every day of my life
all my life
in all I try.
For once,
I want to finish the game
my only aim
end this game.
I’m not asking to be a winner
I just don’t want to be a quitter
a deserter
this time.
