Two separate talks but one message that ties them together.
Elder Evans talks about how to find out the truth of all gospel related things. Including the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I like his example he gave of someone who had to continue to patiently wait and live according to the principles of truth before receiving the witness. In other words, if our answer doesn’t come right away be patient and don’t give up doing what you do already know to be true.
Elder Parrella spoke of the truths we gained by Joseph Smith’s First Vision account. I remember after he spoke there were good humored jokes about ‘making lists’ and ‘going to Brazil.’ In short though, he is someone that has learned how to listen to a prophet and apply the counsel given.
How do these two talks tie together? As it has been stated many times, read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. If it is the word of God as it claims then Joseph Smith must have been a prophet as he said he was. If Joseph Smith was a prophet then all that was revealed through him must be true. Truth always ties together.
