Oh, woest me –
I can’t believe it’s already here.
Oh, dearest me –
it’s the second worst day of the year.
(sigh) No thanks –
I really don’t want to play
because –
it’s such a melancholy day.
Remorse over –
the trips I didn’t take.
Anguish due to –
the s’mores I didn’t make.
Gone are the –
lovely longer days.
RIP –
my beloved lazy ways.
Farewell –
my summer evening walks.
Adieu –
those outside late night talks.
And hello –
wearing long pants and socks
because that –
cold Wyoming wind shocks.
Oh, agony –
my favorite season has gone away.
Oh, dang me –
the calendar says it’s Labor Day!

That line about all the s’mores that never had a chance to be born really got to me… sigh…
Yes, Labor Day is always a toughie for me. Winter comes too fast here in Wyo!
I live in San Diego now. I wish we had a winter… ever.
If it was at all possible, I’d be more than happy to send some of the biting, bitter wind your way (say in January?) 🙂
Yes, please.
