Be My Superman

Honey, we’ve been together so very long,
is it time to be moving on?
But wait, why can’t we still stay together?
After all, we still love each other.
We’ve hit troubled waters, can’t you see?
Why can’t we just love each other like they do on TV?

I’ll be your Lois if you be my Superman.
I’ll be your Terry if you be my Nickie.
I’ll be your Mimi if you be my Guy.
I’ll be your Nora if you be my Nick.

Maybe we can start all over,
as long as we’re together.
We’ll take it like they in the movies,
no matter what happens, we’ll be happy.
As long as we don’t break into reality,
we can do it like they do it on TV.

I’ll be your Lois if you be my Superman.
I’ll be your Terry if you be my Nickie.
I’ll be your Mimi if you be my Guy.
I’ll be your Nora if you be my Nick.

Those wouldn’t be good enough for me,
I want to go for all the glory.

I’ll be your Lombard if you be my Gable.
I’ll be your BaCall if you be my Bogart.
I’ll be your Allen if you be my Burns.
I’ll be your Evans if you be my Rogers.

Friendship

guest blogger

by Marilyn D. Lee

Friendship is something that doesn’t grow overnight.

It’s something you must work on with all your might.

A friend is someone to share good and bad times with,

a person who is real and not a story or myth.

To be able to have a friend to share God with,

is the greatest treasure there is on earth or in heaven.

My friendship for you has grown seven times seven.

If you need me at any time, don’t hesitate to give me a call.

I’ll be by your side without any excuses or a stall.

Remember your friend loves you very much.

Please remember this old funny such and such.

They Come at Night

They come at night, you know.

Thieving, stealing, slinking, breaking.

In the dark so know one will see.

Cover. Hide. Run. Flee.

Some kind of life they lead.

Where is dignity?

What is that?

Where is pride?

Give me some.

Where is my dignity?

We stole it.

Where is my privacy?

We rummaged through it.

Where is my security?

We ran off with it.

Most don’t care.

They can’t.

It happens too often

Welcome to the city.

Warning:

They come at night, though.

A Hyena in Wolf’s Clothing

Did I ever tell you

about a meeting I went to?

From the moment I walked in

I felt uncomfortable through and through.

Because I walked right in

to a big ol’ wolves’ den

but wait – they weren’t wolves

when I looked closer and again.

They were actually hyenas

each decked out in wolf’s clothing

and I walked right in

without even knowing.

And that first howl

I heard caused chills up my spine

because they were just

about to feed and to dine.

Now bear with me here

and try to take heart

while I disclose their secret –

the most chilling part.

You see, they don’t eat flesh

but enjoy tearing apart a soul

picking, ripping, and rending

seems to be their goal.

As soon as I left

I’m sure I was treated the same

my guess is they fed

and feasted on my good name.

So beware, beware

of any hyena in wolf’s clothing.

Ya-owwwww ha, ha, ha,

those beasts are filled with loathing.

Ya-owwwww ha, ha, ha,

that peculiar howl you’ll find

will send a tingling chill

straight up your spine.

The Thing About Fall Is…

Grand Tetons Wyoming

The thing about fall is…

I used to love it

Was it the spectacular colors?

Was it the change in the air?

Was it school starting?

I don’t know.

But it used to fill me with excitement.

The thing about fall is…

I don’t like it now

Is it because everything dies?

Is it because it is the end of summer?

Is it because of the cold?

I don’t know.

But it now fills me with dread.

The thing about fall is…

I think of you often

Is it because in September I’m more aware?

Is it because October is your birthday?

Is it because another holiday season is approaching without you?

I don’t know.

But I’m a little more blue in the fall.
