Suffer the Children…

I recently had the opportunity to babysit Bubba’s two children, Lil B and Lil K.  As mentioned in a previous post, at the time they were two months shy of four and one week shy of two.  In other words, they were full of energy.  We were staying at my sister’s at the time and they were doing what children do best – keeping themselves occupied and busy.  My sister has a small replica of the Christus that proved to be a temptation for little fingers and busy hands.  They wanted to touch it.  Of course, since it wasn’t their home or statue their dad had warned them not to touch it.  They heard the admonition, they understood the meaning, their desire to touch increased.   Continue reading

The Little Man’s Hands

The light of day had already gone,
But I wanted to go for a walk.
It was too cold for most to go along,
But he said he’d join me,
So I waited while he got his shoes on.
Then the little man’s hand,
Slipped into mine.
I knew, life would be fine.
It may get tough,
But nothing is stronger than love.
I held on tight,
As we walked that night.
I felt the promise of the plan,
In the warmth of the little man’s hand.
With bright eyes he looked at me,
And a smile that’ll make many friends.
There was no place I would rather be,
Than on that winter’s night
To be walking with him next to me.
How quickly the little man grows.
Now he’s playing,
Memories he’s making.
As he is learning
He keeps growing
One day he’ll be knowing
Then the man will be leaving.
That’s just the way life goes.
But for now,
The little man’s hand
Slips into mine.
I know, life will be fine.
It may get tough,
But nothing can beat love.
I’ll hold on tight –
And enjoy the night.
While I still can –
Hold onto the little man’s hand.
