The mist of darkness
came up suddenly.
It came from an unlikely source
which caught me by surprise.
It makes my heart slow
to see you suffering so.
I have traveled that road
and carried a similar load.
As I traveled down the road
The same ole scenery passed by.
Weeds, rocks, and of course, garbage –
Nothing beautiful caught my eye.
I pray:
I did my best
To pass the test
With every beat in my chest
I could not rest
But I did fall,
I did fall.
