This was the best day of her life!
Samantha rolled over to turn off her alarm. She had been awake for thirty minutes just waiting for the alarm to go off so that she could start her day. While getting ready she couldn’t keep the smile from off her face. Things were going her way. She was winning, actually winning, in this game called life. It was just like she wrote in her book – releasing today – if you will it, it will work.

There are some people who have traits and mannerisms that fall below my personal standard of annoyance. I’m not a snob. We all have an unspoken standard we measure people with. If a person happens to fall short of our measurement we fault them with a personality defect. What we are really saying though is that they didn’t meet our standard of non-annoyance. It’s true. In the back of our mind we are always judging others to see if they “make the cut.” So, no I don’t have favorites but I do have people who are a constant in my life.

We can’t always control the events in our life. Sometimes we are mere players. What we are told and reminded of is we can control our reaction to events. Easier said than done. It may feel at times that we are swept downstream in a fast moving river and our reactions are little more than instinct. If that is the case and our reaction comes before we have time to think maybe we have to revisit the situation and if possible change the story. It is our story, after all, we are in charge of the narrative. Sometimes we need to do a rewrite, an edit. We revisit the pain in order to find beauty. We change the narrative.
