I wake up,
the sun is shining
the new day brings
hope.
“Bring on the day,” I say.
“You will fail today,” says the little voice on my shoulder.
“Ha!” I laugh. “I know who I am. I know my plan. I will conquer the day!”
I affirm boldly.

I am one little tree
one little tree as you can see
as you can see I stand alone
I stand alone where my seed was sown
my seed was sown downhill from the rest
the rest of the trees are up by the crest
up by the crest they share water and sun
water and sun I get since I’m only one
I’m only one to stand against the gale
against the gale sometimes I want to fail
I want to fail when I’m alone during this test
during this test I have no guard like those by the crest
by the crest with all the rest has some perks
some perks but also a few quirks
a few quirks so it’s all right with me
all right with me to be one little tree.
So you made a mistake
that you’d rather not talk about.
Perhaps, you think I’ll turn
my back on you and then run out?
Some things in life
we need to hold onto tight
with white knuckles
even through the darkest night.
The rug was pulled out
pulled out from under me I say.
The force was so hard
so hard it took my breath away.
Life is messy, life gets hard
sometimes you don’t want to press on.
How will you ever make it
when you don’t feel strong?
Here are a few words
of encouragement for you
because you do have what it takes
to help you make it through.
Because she’s a part of you –
tough enough to raise her children all alone.
She’s a part of you –
tough enough to leave and set out on her own.
She’s a part of you –
tough enough to give birth while rain flooded the Green.
She’s a part of you –
tough enough to start her family at seventeen.
So you see – you will succeed.
Look behind you –
They are walking with you.
Reach inside you –
they are a part of you.
Heartache will come your way
but you will make it through the day –
because you’re already tough enough.
The mirrors face each other
And when I look into one I can see
An illusion of forever
A reminder of eternity.
nobody will argue.
But the more brilliant ones
have more cloud and less blue.
No life is perfect
we all know it is true.
Finding beauty in your clouds
is solely up to you!

Mountain,
By your appearance
you deceive.
“I can climb this I
do believe,”
I said then started
on my way.
