I started this little blog seven years ago this month. For seven years I’ve posted little blurbs and thoughts and highly suspected my posts were overlooked. I just haven’t found a passion or interest to focus on so my writing is random and broad. But I keep toiling at it just in case something kicks in and I need to be prepared with this blog already in place. The point is I post four times a week and barely make my daily 10 view goal. In fact, I have had to round out the views on occasion to make 10. Not proud of it but it is a fact of life. So when I do post something that gets a little attention I’m surprised. That is what happened during the 2018 Christmas season. Continue reading

General Conference thoughts: One More Day
by Elder Taylor G. Godoy
A popular theme today: live life like it’s your last or even the overused YOLO. But this flips it from inward hedonistic seekers to outward altruistic souls. Leaving the day better than you found it. Continue reading
Hallelujah – Anxiety Version
Yet another version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Poor man. Writes one song that resonates with everyone and loses ownership of it. Alas, I am not a singer so my song can only be sung in your head.
I heard about old Jericho,
the walls fell when the trumpets did blow
but you don’t really want to lose your walls do you?
It went like this they circled around
and the Lord knocked the wall down
and they were able to sing their hallelujah.
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Continue reading
Just Give Me a Reason
I really like the song Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess.
Personally, I like the imagery of “We’re not broken just bent” and the one sided lost love (or is it one sided?). However, as I listened to it I thought that line could also apply to a penitent soul coming to that crux of a changed heart.
I Will Go, I Will Do, I Will Be
If I had known a few months ago when I wrote this how many spoofs from this song would be born – I probably would have gone a different route. But I didn’t. Here is part of our camp skit (not performed by me) set to the tune of (what else?) Let It Go from Frozen (sorry, you are probably tired of the song by now).
Let it Go – Idina Menzel version
Here I am searching for answers tonight
she said they will come to me
but I have to do my part first
so I’ll try it out and see
Unfriended on Facebook
I joined the Facebook crowd just over a year ago. By chance, I happened to read an article on Facebook etiquette right before logging on for the first time. It mentioned the polite thing to do with friend requests. For example, if you really don’t want to be connected to a someone, first accept the request then a couple of days later, unfriend that person.
