The Best Known Cure…

I really do think
I need your upmost pity.
Fair dinkum and true –
because I’m one sick puppy.
Not like that, sicko!
I’m truly sick as can be.
I don’t wanna move.
I feel bad, oh woest me!
It hurts all over –
I feel downright crummy.
Yes, I’m serious.
No, this ain’t hyperbole.
Wait, what did you say?
there’s a doctor for me to see?
Hmm, what do you know!
I’m feeling good suddenly!

This Secret Might be the Death of Me

What do you mean
it won’t happen today?
Keeping secrets –
not really my forte.
I need to tell.
I so desire to share.
Making me wait –
kinda mean and unfair.
Let me help you
with an explanation.
I will describe
the situation.
Picture a dam
holding back the vast sea.
Now look closer
because that dam is me.
And the water
is that darn ol’ secret
I have to keep –
I can’t share quite yet.
“I can’t hold it
together much longer,”
Scotty worried
he thought they were goners.
I can relate –
this is all I can take.
Leaks are springing –
this dam is sure to break!

That One Special Friend

You’re not all there, are you?
There is no if, possibly, or maybe.
You are in all the way.
Absolutely, positively crazy.
The light is usually off.
A few aces shy of a deck.
Dancing to your own music.
Your dots just don’t always connect.
But I prefer it that way
and that is in no way a shocker.
Because as you can see
I’m also totally off my rocker!

I So Want to Eat Lunch (but it’s only 9:00am)

I am
really very hungry, you know.

Why do
the dumb mornings drag by so slow?

I want
to eat my lunch – dig in – right now.

But this
one thing I won’t – I can’t – allow.

Because
then I will be hungry at two.

And that
won’t work for me – it will not do.

Because
at two I fight to stay awake.

And this
routine I can not, will not break.

If I
give in and eat my lunch too soon

Then I
face a very long afternoon.
