Nobody Cried

It came as a great shock to everyone, the day his life was abruptly done.

They assumed he’d live forever, they’d say to one another:

(of course, after he’d shut his office door that is when the best gossip would begin to roar)

“He’s a grump,” “He’s a miser,” they all said so it was with no sorrow they learned he was dead.

In fact, they threw the biggest party, still going, so they tell me.
