it’s that time of year when

we travel to be together

and catch up with each other

and by the time we say ‘Amen’

we either laugh or we cry

from our stories in supply

we can’t help but spend

the now talking about the when

sharing the who, what, where, and why.

Oh, come together.

Share the moment.

The chance doesn’t last forever.

Focus on what’s important.

Time moves quickly

the moment will be gone

and will become a memory

that we can only dream on.

Yeah, we talk about them all

and embellish the recall

“I remember it different…”

“That’s not how it went…”

“You really don’t remember it at all!”

So much time we have to cover

in the short time with each other

but the moment is the focus

let go of what might provoke us

because this will be gone forever.

Embrace the moment.

Breathe the air.

Smell the scents.

Those smells will help you recall

after you forget it all.

Hold the moment.

Hear the sounds.

Listen to the voices.

Those sounds will soon enough fade away

and you’ll want to hear those voices someday.
