Your Best

All your life, you did what you could

always tried to live like you should

to build a life, solid and good

and now, you earned your rest.

You lived life in black and white

and order made your world right

so you held on with all your might.

I now profess,

I know,

I know,

I know you did your best.

No matter what, you gave your all

even when you hit a wall

you wouldn’t let yourself fall

and now you earned your rest.

Private demons kept fighting you

all that self-doubt lying to you

life’s chaos always trying you.

I now profess,

I know,

I know,

I know you did your best.

I know you did all you could.

I know you tried to live as you should.

I know you built a life solid and good.

I know you earned your rest.

I know you lived life in black and white.

I know order made your world right.

I know you held on with your might.

I know you did your best.

I know you gave your all.

I know you sometimes hit a wall.

I know you wouldn’t let yourself fall.

I know I should profess…

I know private demons kept fighting you.

I know self-doubt was always lying to you.

I know chaos kept trying you.

I know you gave your best.

Could you even feel love from me?

Or was it buried by insecurity?

Maybe you could never see?

I know you earned your rest.

If I called you, could you still come

even though your job is long done

I know, if you could you would still come.

I tell you now, I profess,

I know,

I know,

I know you did your very best.
