I have a new book of poetry that I need to publish. It will be called The Accidental Poet volume II. Basically it is a collection of my poetry since my last poetry book came out several years ago. This one took a little longer to fill since I cut my poetry posts from twice a week to once a week. I guess you could say it took twice as long to fill, you know, if you were good at math or some strange thing like that.
But also, I wanted to wait until I had a good size book. While waiting for the pages to fill up though I forgot one small detail. The book will have smaller margins. Once I adjusted the size of the page, I suddenly discovered I may have too many. The book is going to be a decent size and it keeps growing.
The delay now is waiting for the perfect picture opportunity for the cover. I need a good accident – humorous, not threatening – to slap on the front. The trouble is my accidents tend to lean more to the embarrassing but not really able to capture in a picture.
You want an example, don’t you?
I happen to have a fresh one. Available on Netflix right now is Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-2021). But I don’t know if it was a case of pure devilry or what but it only offers the first four seasons. The show has eight. I would call that poor planning but the Peacock network probably just calls it cha-ching.
You see, Peacock has all 8 seasons.
But I refused to give in and pay for a Peacock subscription because I will not be manipulated in such a way.
So, I went to my local library and checked out seasons 5-8. Now, if that was the end of the story, I would be sounding pretty smart right now, wouldn’t I? But, alas, that is not the end of my story.
I enjoyed the series so much I decided to purchase the set on DVD. For the full picture of my dorkiness, I will confess I spent about $45 + shipping/handling to receive the DVDs from Walmart. That still doesn’t sound too bad though, right? So what? I purchased the DVDs. Big deal.
But my story doesn’t end there either. Somehow, and I’m not sure how it happened, I decided to buy a Peacock subscription after all. While I was waiting for the purchased DVDs to arrive. So, I paid $53 for a year’s subscription to the Peacock. After I had already bought the DVDs.
If you think about it, this one show cost me about $100. Of course, I am watching other shows on Peacock but still, I blame Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Which is good and makes me laugh but it is not $100 good. No show is $100 good.
But how do I take a picture of that whole big goof? I can’t. So, my Accidental Poet Vol. II continues to grow while I wait for something I can capture with a photo. Meanwhile, my dorkiness continues to march on full speed ahead.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some DVDs to go and watch to get my money’s worth.
