When you’re home alone

and hear strange noises

you have to use your imagination

to give them another source.

Surely, that’s the fridge.

That must be the wind.

The neighbors sure are loud.

This old house settles.

But try not to give credit

to any unseen culprit

or mischievous hands.

No, nobody here but me and the fridge!
