I’m the type of person that has always hated getting into trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind making trouble every now and then I just don’t want to be called out on it. To this day, I still have trouble with being lectured or scolded for wrong doing. I just don’t like to be in trouble.
I used to associate repentance with being in trouble. It seemed like such a foreboding word; akin to being reprimanded. But that needs some corrective thinking.
Repentance is made possible because of the Atonement of Christ. The Atonement of Christ is the ultimate act of love. Therefore, following the logic, repentance is a fruit from the tree of love. It is not punishment but perfect love. It is not to be feared but actively sought. Repentance truly is a positive goal.
