Just Give Me a Reason

I really like the song Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess.

Personally, I like the imagery of “We’re not broken just bent” and the one sided lost love (or is it one sided?).  However, as I listened to it I thought that line could also apply to a penitent soul coming to that crux of a changed heart.

Very few of us are damaged beyond repair goods. Perhaps we are more bent than broken in a million pieces and we just need the Master Healer.

I mean no disrespect to the writers of this song.

Of course, since I am not musically inclined I am forced to write the lyrics and include the original video at the bottom.

Right from the start

I tried to hide

not show my heart

and I unwilling to change.

Yeah, there are some parts of me

that aren’t all that pretty

and yet I could not fix them.

Now, I realize I’m on the wrong road, oh oh

I don’t know where to go, oh oh

I don’t think I’m strong enough

without love, pure love.

Just give me a reason

just a little bit’s enough

just a second I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

I’ve come so far

it’s been written in the scars

on my heart

that I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

I’m sorry I don’t understand

where all of this is coming from

I thought that I was fine

(Oh, I had everything).

Illusions running wild again

I really don’t have anything

nothing I can call mine

(my world is crumbling).

My old ways I will now cease, uh huh

I’m falling down on my knees, uh huh

give me something to hold onto please

with your love, pure love

I need love, pure love.

Just give me a reason

just a little bit’s enough

just a second I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

I just forgot

while life wrote those deep scars on my heart

I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

Oh, I’m on my knees

sending my pleas

my prayers increase

because your love’s enough.

Waiting for day

please show me the way

I can’t be as bad as it seems

I’ll be clean.

Just give me a reason

just a little bit’s enough

just a second I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

I’ve come so far

it’s been written in the scars on my heart

that I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

Just give me a reason

just a little bit’s enough

just a second I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

I’ve come so far

it’s been written in the scars on my heart

that I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.

Oh, I can learn to love again.

Oh, I can learn to love again.

That I’m not broken just bent

and I can learn to love again.
