Let me take some time
maybe even a day
to understand your words
and process what you say.
You say you need me
and can’t live without me
yet you leave me alone every night.
You say I’m beautiful
and should never, ever change
yet you prefer when I dress to the nines.
You say you love me
and using the same tongue
your sarcasm cuts and leaves a mark.
You say I’m wonderful
that I’m your world
yet I’m not even in your heart.
So let me take today
and process what you say.

I think a lot of us are like this – to one extent or another. I know I can be quite sarcastic with words dripping of pure snarkiness. Then I say, I love you? Love is truly an action.
