Abraham and Isaac
Genesis 22
Abraham said to Isaac,
“Son, come with me.
It is time to sacrifice
come learn and see.”
Isaac walked with Abraham,
and saw his father shed a tear.
Finally he asked softly ,
“Why did we come here?”
Abraham taught Isaac,
“Son, the Lord is leading me
we made a covenant
and I am not sure how it will be.
Right now, I am lost
I cannot see the end
but I trust the Lord
because he hears me again and again.
This has caused sleepless nights
filled with prayer and fret.
All I know is it will work out
but I do not know how, quite yet.
I love you son,
always know I love you
this thing I have been asked
is the hardest I will ever do.
I do not know how but I believe
a miracle is in store
because the Lord keeps his promises
forevermore, forevermore.
Do you trust me son?
Trust in me like I trust the Lord
there are blessings
that are in store.”
Isaac replied to Abraham,
“I am not sure I can see
but I trust in you
and I know this must be.”
Abraham offered Isaac,
but an angel stopped his hand.
The lesson was taught
so all could understand.
The lesson of Abraham and Isaac:
Trust in the covenants you make
because the Lord always does, too.
And know there is one who took your place
and made the sacrifice for you.

My Awesome Prayer
Sometimes I pray to be awesome
and I wait for that gift to come.
Coming Home
Standing at the front door
looking in, looking in
remembering
what it feels like to be inside.
The Call
Enoch received a call
and said, “I am but a lad,
I will fail,
I can’t do that.”
The Lord responded,
“Go forth and do.
Trust in me
and I will be with you.”

On Your Side
So you had a bad day
but it’s kind of hard to tell
your life is a string of bad days
nothing ever works out well.
And throwing in the towel
is something you will never do
you just keep going and trying
someday it will turn around for you.
There are those who make fun
and just don’t understand
they knock you down
instead of lending a helping hand.
As you pick yourself up from the fall
let me tell you if it helps at all –
I’m on your side.

Bad luck follows you,
it finds you day and night
and you just can’t seem
to do anything right.
No matter how hard
or how often you try
it’s not good enough
and so you’re left to cry.
You often wonder if
you’re here on your own
and no one, no no one,
wants to face this world alone.
I’m pulling for you to win
to rise above the din.
I’m on your side.
I am on your side.
I am

your side.
We may never meet
but believe that
even if you
can’t see that
I’m on your side.

Pacing
Anxiety and worry
I tend to wear on my shoulder
Still I carry on
like a frightened soldier.
Sleep will not come
for the troubled and concerned heart.
The load is heavy
when adversity will not part.
A rut in the floor
will be impressed soon enough
as I search for answers
primarily filled with love.
Answers elude me
when I try to find them alone.
This is more than
I can ever do on my own.
My troubles make me
pace a thousand times or more
but no peace comes
until my knees hit the floor.
The answer comes,
“Your troubles I will keep.
Rest now child,
it is time for you to sleep.”
