The Two Great Commandments

We are told

to love God and our fellow man.

Is that goal

even a feasible, possible plan?

To love God

is easy enough to say but to prove

our promise

we must be willing to change and move.

Behind words

there must be trust to prompt action

or we are

merely animals ruled by worldly passion.

To love man

is quite overwhelming to even ask.

Love those who

are rascals and cruel is a daunting task.

We may not

approve of the actions of everyone we see

but I can

still be civil and extend some mercy.

Matthew 22:35-40
