I didn’t want to over-generalize this statement but that’s how it came out. Is it just me or are there a lot of people out there demanding justice but hoping for mercy? Is it a human trait or am I lumping a trait onto the human mass based on my limited scope. Is this a true statement?

Your first sentence says it so poignantly. It is human nature. I don’t know if true justice exists. After all it is not a concept in nature. I think most of the time we say justice we mean revenge.
Only for some but it feels like that number is growing while empaths are dwindling. There seems to be a lot of finger pointing these days.
Yes, I think you’re right. We don’t want justice we want vengeance for other people.
