When the old ‘uns play the young ‘uns games

This is why I decided to try the Facebook game called “TBH.”

I suffered from writer’s block.

All my posts for the week were on deck and ready to go except for today’s.  I could not think of anything to write about.

That hardly ever happens but it does occur from time to time.

Nothing was coming.  No vibe.  No flow.

So what if…. what if I tried to play one of those Facebook games?  I’m more than 20 years older than the typical player.  How would this go down?

To be honest, I’ve wanted to do this for awhile but haven’t been brave enough.  Because… I’m old and what would my friends think?

But I had two objectives.  One, I want those same friends who let mere acquaintances judge them to know some eternal truths.  Each one is a beloved son or daughter of God.  And each one has so many talents and abilities that he or she might not be able to see.  So, I thought I’d use the medium so commonly used to speak their language.  Hopefully, to get their attention.

The second reason I did this is just because I was curious.  Why do so many let others have so much control over them?  Why do they tempt fate?

My findings?   It was fun.  I hope I was able to spread a little good cheer.  It still seems like a fairly dangerous game.  All it takes is one stinker to completely deflate a person’s fragile self-esteem.

I only had 8 likes total and it was tough answering everyone with a unique answer that fit their personality (I hope I succeeded).  I can see why most of the responses I see to this game are fairly generic.  There are some that get over 100.

I’m kind of glad I don’t know that many people.

  1. I’ve not heard of this game on Facebook. I do get asked to play games occasionally, but I boringly say no, because (1) I’ve hardly ever got the time when I’m on Facebook (2) I don’t much enjoy those kind of games. I prefer board games on the dinning room table with family! 🙂

  2. It’s not one of those official games it’s just something the younger crowd does when their bored. I’m always a little nervous when I see it because it would just take one mean spirited stinker to cause hurt and happiness. For the most part, I’ve seen responses more like yearbook signings – “I don’t know you but you seem sweet.”
I tell you what though, it’s a lot of work!
