Sunday’s Big Distraction

I had the best of intention

To pay the upmost attention.

Or did I?  Or did I?

An escapee from the Sweetheart Dance

Left the party and took a chance.

So up high.  So up high.

Who knows where it went in its travel

Before it rested in the chapel.

Oh, dear me!  Oh, dear me!

The heart shaped balloon adorned with “I love you”

Has been hanging out now for week number 2.

So funny.  So funny.

On Sunday my eyes were looking upward

Not in a good way but for the absurd.

Oh really?  Oh really?

It got stuck but wanted to flee

It tried really hard to get free.

Tragedy.  Tragedy.

The air vent its evil foe

Refusing to let it go.

Me oh my.  Me oh my.

Shimmy to the corner almost get away

But it was always pulled back into the bay.

Gulp and sigh.  Gulp and sigh.

I may have gotten caught up in the action

And there’s a chance I was quite the distraction.

It ain’t so.  It ain’t so.

So I may have lost focus for a moment

I just hoped it would escape the mean ol’ vent

Way to go.  Way to go.

Trust me, there’s a moral to this whole story

Don’t let anyone else control your glory.

An amen!  An amen!

And also, maybe don’t pay so much attention to

A stuck balloon even if it does say I love you.

So, the end.  Yes, the end.
