I could have been an Olympian –
trust me, my efforts would be so bold –
but I’m not fast, fit, or flexible –
and I don’t really like the cold –
if it weren’t for those few details though –
you can be sure, I’d bring home the gold!

So, I just celebrated my 40th birthday last August. Forty and not married. As if in, still single. Do you know what irks me the most about being single in my forties? The fact I never received one gathering devoted to me receiving presents. In other words, a shower.
Enoch received a call
and said, “I am but a lad,
I will fail,
I can’t do that.”
The Lord responded,
“Go forth and do.
Trust in me
and I will be with you.”
My co-worker seriously started a story like this the other day:
“Wait, wait, wait,” I rudely interrupted. “You have a cousin named Vinny?” She nodded her head and continued her story.
Later, a group of us discussed our high school teachers and how we only remember the naughty ones. You know, the ones that did something memorably bad.
I have a perfect snack, you see,
a snack in right in front of me.
Some milk and a homemade cookie.
A cookie made deliciously.
Don’t drink the milk speedily
keep it even as can be.
It can get a little tricky
to finish them jointly
my milk and yummy cookie.

Is the art of conversation becoming lost?
I’m not talking about that tricky talent of communication. This isn’t one of those discussions to help us communicate more effectively. I’m still trying to learn that myself.
No, I’m referring to conversation. Small talk, big talk, just talk in general. Let’s put aside the common liability of modern technology. I think most of us can agree we are all doing a pretty decent job of killing the English language one text and Facebook status at a time. Or maybe it’s our competitive mindset that we have to win everything. Even a simple conversation. Whatever it is, real and true conversations are beginning to be hard to come by.
