The follow up

Almost three months ago I extended an invitation to all my reader (s). It was a simple request. I invited you to say at least one prayer a day asking to see yourself as Heavenly Father sees you. For thirty days.

It has been close to 90 days since I extended this invitation. Did you do it? Did you remember? Did you choose not to?

I accepted this call myself. Almost every night as I voiced my prayer, I offered up this sincere petition. Just uttering the words brought a surge of confidence into my soul.

I’m not perfect. I make a lot of mistakes. I will never be smooth and cool but will always be rather awkward and clumsy. There are a lot of things I don’t know and will never know how to do. I’m not brave. I’m not good at small talk. Sometimes I fail. Sometimes I fall.

But…

I know that I am a daughter of God here for a reason. I will trust in Him. And I will be more than enough to see this task through. I know I have the potential to succeed. I know that I am loved.

Do you?

Family Photo

My sister recently pointed out that there was not one photo of just me and my siblings.  I didn’t have time to scour photo albums to refute the claim.  Besides, I’ve been in and out of most of our albums creating family photo video montages.  I believe her.

So, this past Memorial weekend, we took a picture.  Actually, a few pictures.  I’m always a little nervous about posting personal pictures online because I do not want to see them end up on awkwardfamilyphotos.com.  But I think this one is safe.  And it took 30 years to get – so why not?

The quality of my iPhone is truly astounding.

The Rainstorm

The struggling artist spent a sleepless night trying to create a masterpiece.  Finally, he fell on his knees and asked, “Lord, how can I create beauty?”  Suddenly a clap of thunder shook the earth and the rain poured down.  The Lord whispered, “This is how I create.”

I got nothing today…

I had all my posts done for this week except for today’s.  I planned to work on it last night after a dinner date with a friend.

Well, dinner was with an old friend and we don’t get to see each other much anymore.  Four hours later… we left Wingers.  I have to get ready for bed although I’m doubtful that will be much use.  In the space of our four hour conversation I downed two glassed of Dr. Pepper.  I’m not a big caffeine drinker.  When I indulge my body sometimes can’t handle it.  This may be a long night.

At any rate, I do not have a post ready to share.  Is it okay if I cheat?  How about I share a blog of a friend?  While I’m at it I might as well put in a plug for Guest Blogger Weekend – next Friday (May 9).  Any takers?

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Open letter to J. Bieber redux

Just over a year ago I wrote an open letter to Justin Bieber.   None of my posts garner much attention and usually are forgotten fairly quickly.  As you can see, this one received one like (from a friend) on WordPress.  I think it also received one or two likes on my Facebook page.  All in all, it was not a well-received piece.  But that’s okay, I’m used to that response.

However, as it sat high in the blogosphere, it actually received a couple of comments.

The first one from “Jared”:

jared 01

Really how can I argue with such a well thought and literate statement such as this?  As you can see, I couldn’t.   Expecially when Jared so ably pointed out there is no harm in the consumptions of hamrless substances.  There is no refuting such a insightful dispute.

Today I received yet another comment on this dormant post from smh:

smh 01

So… this makes everything all right?  Perhaps Mr. Bieber didn’t post the original status.  If that’s the case it makes it even worse.  That’s the persona he is giving off to people?  That’s the example he’s setting?  Whether he typed the words or someone typed it for him that is still the attitude he flagrantly exhibits.  And that is my whole point exactly.

In the end, despite the two comments that this post received, I stand by my statement.  Mr. Jared and Mr or Ms smh you have not convinced me otherwise.    But thanks for stopping  by!

3 Lessons Learned

This has been a busy month.  Busy being schooled that is.  Here are the 3 great life lessons I learned within the past month:

1) you’re going to ruffle some feathers so get over it
2) some of your mistakes will affect other people so forgive yourself
3) it’s not always fun to watch your team in the Super Bowl so switch the channel

My neighbor’s tree

I live in a desert.  You have to understand that.  If you understand that then you’ll understand my fascination with trees.  Let’s just say, I have a lot of pictures of trees.  Especially my neighbor’s tree.

Autumn

Autumn

This is how it looked in the fall.  However, one day later….

First snowfall

First snowfall

We received our first snow of the season.  Isn’t that kind of early? you may ask.  That’s Wyoming.

Winter

Winter

This is how it’s faring this winter.  Like that red neck truck parked in front?  That’s Wyoming.

Looking for guest bloggers

Once a month, I post an entry from a guest blogger.  Next weekend is my scheduled time to do this.  I am looking for guests to post about… whatever (within reason).  You could be established bloggers looking to expand your viewership by a couple extra views or a novice with a story to share.

Interested?  Let me know!
