Please imagine if you will,

A time so very long ago.

A place we had known so well,

But now, we don’t even know.

I can see myself in the scene,

A little nervous to leave home.

Wondering about my future,

Scared to be on my own.

“Is there any to give comfort?”

I heard a gentle voice ask.

“Please help her to not be afraid.”

One stood and accepted the task.

I said, “Take my hand,

Show me where to go.

Oh, please lead on,

I am here to follow.”

You said, “I’ll guide and teach,

With counsel and prayer.”

I said, “You’ll have a student,

Through all, I will be there.”

Time goes by and here we are now.

Our lives took us separate ways

We were lost for awhile,

But choices led us to the same place.

I remember the scene so well,

I was nervous to be leaving home.

Wondering about my future,

I felt scared to be on my own.

“Can anyone give me comfort?

To help and show me what to do.”

An answer came and calmed my fears,

“I know of one prepared for you.”

I ask, “Take my hand,

Show me where to go.

Oh, please lead on,

I am here to follow.”

You say, “I will guide and teach

With counsel and prayer.”

I tell you, “You have a friend,

When you need me, I’ll be there.”
