To Like or Not to Like

With pen and paper,

I’ve been writing since I was little.

Nothing important,

Mostly just a whole lot of dribble.

I started this little blog of mine.

Hoping it could

Improve my writing over time.

I boldly claimed:

“I’m writing for me – hit or miss.

I don’t care,

If anyone else cares to reads this.”

Clickity-clack

I typed away not caring or needing

To find out if

Someone else was sharing or reading.

Until the day

I saw the small link that read, “Site Stats.”

I must confess,

My motive changed after that.

Every dang day,

I feel compelled to check and compare.

“Only 1 view!

How can I trap, er, make more aware?”

Once again,

It’s lunch time in the school cafeteria

And I’m here,

Alone and dwelling in Siberia.

And again,

I just want to be invited

To join in

With the cool crowd and be united.

Or at least

Earn some likes and receive some praise.

I mean why not

Give some admiration for ck’s days?

Just sayin’,

In my opinion it’s funny enough

One last note,

I promise it sure is dang-it good stuff!

  1. I hear you. To blog is an epic battle of the mind between writing for personal pleasure, and at the same time wanting to reach an audience that might appreciate it. However, If you start writing with an audience in mind it becomes less of a pleasure. That accursed status page.

  2. I’m trying not to check so often. But I’m still drawn to the stats. If I have a low volume day I wonder why and when I have a high volume day I worry about sustaining. Aack!

  3. I like to think of my high volume days as anomalies to ignore.. But it’s still depressing going back to slow and steady growth afterwards.. Or a depressing drop out of nowhere..boo no,no, think about the writing!
