Up is a small but mighty word. We know it’s the opposite of down but let’s look at it a little more closely.

Imagine…
In the USA, we are officially in “the holiday season.”. No need to mention which one because the ‘the’ takes care of the definition. Our official kick-off starts with turkey day and apexes with the jolly old man in red and concludes with a whole new year to start all over again. Before all that though, we set apart a day to give thanks for, well, all that and everything leading up to all that. I found a gratitude writing prompt to write a thank you speech for my greatest success. In true fashion, I modified it to make it more me. Here is a thank you speech for my year.
Continue readingLessons Learned
I promise, this is the last post I will mention my trip to Mongolia as the topic. It’s true, I have already discussed my flights and my itinerary, what more could possibly be mined from this trip? Well, me being me, this is now where I’m going to tell you what I learned. Not helpful travel tips, mind you, rather life lessons. Because that’s how I roll.
Continue readingParty of the (half) century!
Yep, that title is totally misleading but it is clever so I’m keeping it. Today is my birthday and I am turning 50. While I have been wrapping my head around the idea of entering my fifties I am going to share a few thoughts that have crossed my mind.
Continue readingOur Fuel
I suppose if we break it down, motivation is our fuel. It’s what moves us and keeps us going. But it is also individualistic. It’s not like going to a gas station to fill up a car. There isn’t a limited selection of pumps to choose from. On the contrary, there seems to be limitless options for each of us. So, how do we find the fuel that works for us? Here are a few suggestions.

I recently rewatched Doc Hollywood (1991). Not to brag but I have seen this movie a lot. I can’t give you an exact number but I can say I know it fairly well. It’s in that sweet zone of familiarity but not overly familiar that I can’t watch it again. Obviously, I am not the same person I was when I first saw it 32 years ago. Life experience has given me new lens to see with. So now, watching these characters who are now younger than me muddle through their meet-cute I have to ask the one question that haunts me from any old movie, “Would these characters still be together today?”

It’s not easy to change a notion. A long held belief that feels true but suddenly isn’t. That’s what happened to the taboo topic of suicide. It was once considered bad form to mention but recent studies have shown that it is actually unhealthy and dangerous to leave it out of conversations. There needs to be the right kind of chatter about it.

While preparing for the Reba concert in March I attempted to prepare the three youngest concert goers in our group with a series of videos. However, I wanted to make one thing clear about the songs. While I am a fan, I do not endorse every Reba song message. Case in point: Whoever’s In New England. Sure, I sing along with it but it makes me cringe.
Continue readingIs There Life Out There?
This weekend, I am attending a Reba concert. At least, I better be. I bought the tickets 6 months ago and I am writing this a month out. So, I better be attending a Reba concert.
Continue readingPeace
I will make a general statement by saying almost everyone wants peace. Almost. There are some that certainly thrive on chaos. For the most part though, the majority of us are looking for peace. So what is it?
