Chasing Symptoms
A few of my family members decided to upgrade dad’s Kindle to an iPad. Christmas morning he opened his gift and received his new toy. My nephew started it for him and then left before he could troubleshoot some problems. Enter me. After promising dad his iPad would be simple to use since he already used an iPhone I had to figure out why it was, in fact, not as simple to use as we promised. Most of his apps transferred from his phone with no problem except his contacts. His contact list on his iPad was blank. Since the actual tech experts were nowhere near, I had to step up the plate and figure out the problem. What happened to his contact list?

We all know we can’t take anything with us when we die. Despite cultural legends of burials filled with items for the next life, which archaeologists appreciate, we leave our belongings behind. I hate to inform you but history is not a concrete study
Sometimes two unrelated events come together and school you in a lesson. That happened for me a few years ago when I was trying to rise after a failure of sorts and needed some sort of affirmation that I could be good at something. As I tried to find some validation I decided to combine two things that I like and see if I could make a go at it. So I combined my love of public speaking with local history and sought some outlet for the two. What I settled on was conducting cemetery tours. The lesson I learned fairly quickly is that history is not as concrete as I thought it was. Continue reading
New Book – The Accidental Poet Volume I
It only took a year and a half longer than I planned but my latest collection of poetry is now available. I switched titles from the Few Words series to beginning the Accidental Poet series. The new title reflects what I represent and who I am. It also doesn’t seem as stuffy as the previous title. Continue reading

I have spent a lot of time thinking if I had a child and could give her a gift what would I give? I even wrote a post influenced by Sleeping Beauty. Since that time, I have had other thoughts on the subject. Maybe if I could only pick three I needed to choose more carefully. Old-fashioned title?
I grew up using the title aunt for my parents’ and grandparents’ siblings. In fact, I remember one time my uncle called and I thought I was too old to use the title so I ditched the title and only used his name when I told my mom who was on the line. Of course, he heard me so when mom answered the phone he asked her why we were on a first name basis. She then asked me about it and it took years for me to attempt to drop the title again.
