I held a seed in my hand
and with that seed I had a plan
to drop it into the ground indeed
I’d plant that magnificent seed
and watch it grow big and grand.
Once I dropped that seed into the ground
proffered advice came quickly around.
Neighbor said water the ground more
to rejuvenate and restore
and my seed would surely grow
if I watered it just like so
this was too important to ignore.
He said while his flower bed sat dry
and as he spoke his last flower did die.
Friend said it would be rather sweet
to cover it from too much heat
just a little protection
would really be perfection
and help it be whole and complete.
She said while her flowers drooped in the sun
before her advice was even done.
Sister said what I really need
is to not let an enemy weed
be allowed to grow nearby
and if I chose not to comply
the weed would overtake my seed.
She said while weeds did overpower
all of her pretty little flowers.
Brother said not to do too much,
best to leave it alone and not touch
too much fuss is never good
nature will do just what it should
if meant to be it will do such.
He said while his batch still brown
and nothing more than hard ground.
I listened to what they did say
but realized at the end of the day
I did what I felt was best
and let go of all the rest
I took care of my seed my own way.
My seed wasn’t perfect but just fine
because after all, it was mine.
