As I walk around the block,
day after day, I see life in play.
I walk by
and see as she moves in
to her very first home
judging by her happy grin.
I walk by
the house with a trampoline
where the kids gather to jump
as part of their daily routine.
I walk by
and wave at the old man
rocking on his front porch
because he can longer stand.
With each walk around the block,
season follows season, time stops for no one,
day after day, I see life in play,
I walk by
and see her load a U-Haul
emptying her small house
making sure she got it all.
I walk by
the trampoline is long gone,
a wedding celebration
is taking place on the lawn.
I walk by
there is no wave any more,
the rocker is no longer there,
just a planter by the door.
I walk around the block,
day after day, I see life in play.
