The soldier

fighting in a faraway land

does what must be done

so freedom won’t be damned.

The soldier can’t come home today.

thinks often of his family he loves

but while he keeps his purpose in front of him

thoughts of home are behind everything he does.

gave his all for the cause

don’t let his sacrifice go unnoticed

but take a moment to pause

as the soldier comes home today.
