If I had a backbone

I’d tell you what I’d do,

the first word out would be ‘no’

and I’d specifically say it to you.

I’d hold my ground firmly

and I would be ready to argue.

We’d do things my way for a change

instead of me catering to you.

I may not always be right

but you would see my point of view.

Alas, even this is written in passive voice

because all this I will never do!
