Questions to ask when I see,
And talk with my Grandma Lee:
Who were you, when you were 22?
On the clearness of a spring day,
Did you kneel to pray?
If you felt too shy,
Did you lie awake and cry?
When you watched a child without sin,
Did you share a big grin?
When the winds howled at night,
Did you hold your pillow tight?
Were you looking for a lover’s kiss?
Did you even know what love is?
When you saw the hurt others make,
Did your own heart ache?
When you witnessed ironies in the crowd,
Did it make you laugh out loud?
If your dreams were not met,
Were you filled with regret?
How did you feel, what did you do,
When you were 22?
