College graduation
day drew near.
Though excited
she also shed a tear.
Her grandma had been
gone over a year.
So on bended knee
she offered a sincere plea –
“Please,” she asked from her heart,
“even though we’re far apart
could she be with me
a least peek in at me
it would mean a lot to me.
Please, I ask
if she could be there –
this is my prayer.”
The big night came
and her family shared her feat.
A sense of victory
in the air that tasted sweet.
Happy but her heart
dropped when she saw the empty seat.
A familiar voice
she thought she heard
comforted her
with a few words –
“Girl, I’m still in your heart
so we will never be apart.
It doesn’t matter where you go
I just want you to know
I’m proud and love you so.
Remember,
it doesn’t matter where
I’m already there.”

Oh my heart. That was seriously the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.
Thank you!! That means a lot to me 🙂
